THE ROOM & CELEBRATION
by Harold Pinter
directed by Harry Burton
performed by BA (Hons) Acting Year 3
The Room - (about 30/40 minutes)
An elderly woman is disturbed by visitors who seem to think her room is vacant.
In Harold Pinter's first play, he reveals himself as already in full control of his unique ability to make dramatic poetry of the banalities of everyday speech and the precision with which it defines character.
The Room was first performed in May 1957.
Celebration (about 40 minutes)
A restaurant. Two curved banquettes. It's a celebration. Violent, wildly funny, Harold Pinter's play displays a vivid zest for life.Celebration premiered at the Almeida Theatre, London, in March 2000.
