English Theatre Madrid is thrilled to launch our newest production, a darkly riveting version of Shakespeare’s “Macbeth”. After successful performances of “Romeo & Juliet”, “Hamlet” and “Much Ado About Nothing” in the past, we are excited to once more be rehearsing Shakespearean drama with a large cast and a striking vision for the play.
Perhaps Shakespeare’s most popular tragedy, “Macbeth” is a play full of bloodshed and betrayal, madness and murder. In keeping with ETM’s inventive re-imaginings of Shakespeare’s works, we have set the action in a dystopian future Scotland, where malevolent occult forces intertwine with the power-hungry couple whose bloody deeds dominate the drama.
The text has been edited to create a fast-paced, dynamic script, without losing any of the play’s unforgettable language and imagery. With creative audio-visual elements and compelling costumes, ETM will bring Shakespeare’s play to vivid life for every member of the audience.
